20% Off At Tommy’s Pizzeria

Brief

20% Off at Tommy’s Pizzeria is a short film that questions just how far we’ll go for a delicious slice of pizza.

The brief was essentially: “grafic design is my passion” – bring the bizarro world of Tommy’s to the end credits to round out the look and feel of the film using the existing branding.

The end card was heavily inspired by my memories of seeing 80s/90s adverts on our old CRT TV in the living room. I felt this was the perfect opportunity to make the branding sing with a little character animation, combined with a CRT effect, chromatic aberration and playful scaling, to make the perfectly tacky ending.

This project was also self-indulgent – it was a fantastic opportunity for me to showcase WHY I love marrying digital and analog techniques so much. To create the menu I printed out the design and put it through its paces – in particular tested various crisp-crumb-covered fingers to get the ideal grubby finger print.
